Common Compounds to know

Postby RubyLake1F » Fri Apr 06, 2018 1:37 pm

For the first test, are we expected to know particular common compounds? A lot of the assigned problems in the book expected us to know the formulas for compounds such as ammonia and nitric acid. These are familiar to me from seeing them in high school chemistry but I definitely don't have a bunch memorized as of now.
Would formulas be give to us in all problems for test 1?

Definitely check with a TA but from talking to other students who took 14A with Lavelle in the past they said we don't need to know those compounds yet and we will have a whole unit on all that stuff.

I would agree with the person above about checking with your TA, for each might be different. But, my TA did say we were expected to memorize and know the chemical formulas of common compounds. So, I would probably advising at least like looking over that, better safe than sorry!

Dr Lavelle said after class that we wouldn't be expected to know this for the first test.
