### The speed of light

I apologize if this question is elementary, but do all forms of energy on the electromagnetic spectrum (gamma rays, x rays, infrared, etc) travel at the speed of light?

In a vacuum, yes. The only thing that's different is their frequencies & wavelengths I believe.

Yes, the speed of light is a constant that for the equations we use will always be 3.00x10^8 ms-1.

What does it necessarily mean when one says "in a vacuum"?

"In a vacuum" means that there is no matter in the space that would affect processes occurring there.
