Of the following sets of four quantum numbers(nil,ml,ms), identify the ones that are forbidden for an electron in an atom and explain why they are invalid:
(a) {4,2,-1,+1/2}; (b) {5,0,-1,+1/2}; (c) {4,4,-1,+1/2}

C is definitely false because as Professor Lavelle said during lecture, the angular quantum number (l) can only have values up to one value less than the principle quantum number (n) so there is no way the first number (n) and the second number (l) could be the same.

B is also false because if the value of l is 0, then the value of ml must be 0 as well
