HW Problem 2.39

Postby kellyz_1C » Wed May 09, 2018 3:21 pm

Hello this question asks to predict which atoms could be in an excited or ground state based off of its electron configurations. Are we expected to know the electron configurations for atoms that are in the excited state? Or should we just be able to recognize when atoms are not in their ground state?

I'm assuming we only need to know when atoms are in their ground state (and the configuration for ground state) or when they are not in their ground state.

I dont think we need to know the e- configuration for an atom in its excited state we just need to be able to recognize when its in its excited state. Im pretty sure if it violates one of the three rules (pauli, hund, aufbau) then its in the excited state
