movement of electrons

Postby ali_boutrosdisc3H » Sun Mar 05, 2017 4:58 pm

does the passing of electrons come from the atoms themselves or from the bonds they create?

It depends on the mechanism, but it can come from either. Sometimes the electrons come from the atoms themselves, such as in the example of O- or Br- giving an e- to C+; other times it comes from the bonds, such as from a single, double or triple bond giving an e- to an atom.

You can either have the subsititution or addition reaction where one reactant is substituted for another compared to addition where one is broken off than the other is added once a certain reactant left
