Lewis Dot Diagrams
When writing lewis dot diagrams does it matter on what direction of the symbol we start putting the dots for the valence electrons?

Nope. It's helpful to start on sides that are farthest to other elements so you can draw bonds between them.

No but its better if you start on the side not facing another element so that after you have all the valence electrons drawn out you can decide how these two elements bond.
