can someone provide an example of how cis and trans orientations are involved in entropy?

I believe the more orientations a molecule has the more its entropy is. If a molecule did not have cis and trans versions it would have a lower entropy than a similar molecule that did.

It has to do with the degeneracy and total possible position orientations. Cis and trans are just two examples of possible orientations of a molecule.

Molecules with the trans configuration have fewer possible packing orientations for a crystalline structure compared to molecules with the cis orientation, so they have a lower molecular entropy.
