## reversible system

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \Delta H^{\circ} - T \Delta S^{\circ}$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= -RT\ln K$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(products) - \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(reactants)$

When a process is reversible, is deltaS of the system 0 or is delta S total 0?

### Re: reversible system

Delta S total is zero but delta S of the system is not necessarily equal to zero.

### Re: reversible system

in a nonreversible process, S(system) is most likely not equal to S(surroundings), so S(total) would not be equal to zero.

### Re: reversible system

DeltaS total would be zero, which means that deltaS system=-(deltaS surroundings)

### Re: reversible system

Whenever there's a reversible system, delta S total would be zero, also remember that internal energy is zero when the system is reversible

### Re: reversible system

Does deltaS total always equal 0 in a reversible process? Is it possible for deltaS to be 0 in an irreversible system, and why or why not?

deltaS total = 0
