A good conceptual concept to remember is that a shell is bigger than a sub shell which is bigger than an orbital
Shell > Subshell > orbital
Shell > Subshell > orbital

the F subshell has 7 orbitals, and therefore can hold 14 electrons. I dont think we need to be too familiar with the F subshell fro the midterm.

There are 7 orbitals. In these 7 orbitals, 14 electrons can occupy these orbitals because 2 can fit in each.
