### Energy vs Intensity

What's the difference between the energy and the intensity of photons/light?

### Re: Energy vs Intensity

As far as I know they are interchangeable, or at least intensity is used to describe how energetic a particle is. Remember that a shorter wavelength and higher frequency makes a particle more energetic and more intense.

However, I think you have to be careful because "intensity" of light (or bright vs faint light) does not affect anything during electron emission, whereas wavelength and frequency will affect this.

### Re: Energy vs Intensity

Energy is usually used to describe the overall energy of a wave while intensity is usually used to describe the power per square meter.

### Re: Energy vs Intensity

I'm pretty sure that energy level refers to the actual amplitude of the waves whereas the intensity would be the actual amount of energy waves.
