### M11 Sig Figs

For part C on M11 (7th edition), the answer in the back is given only 2 sig figs as 5.7g. The answer I got was rounded to 3 sig figs, at 5.79g. I was just wondering it's supposed to be 3 sig figs, as the answer to part B is 3 sig figs, or if my answer is wrong? Since if I round it to 2 sig figs it would be 5.8g not 5.7g

I believe it's better to use 3 sig figs for your answer in part C even though the answer in the book only gives 2 sig figs because all numbers given in the question have 3 sig figs.

I believe you should round it to 3 sig figs since the numbers given in the problem are all 3 sig figs.

I've noticed that a lot of the solutions in the back of book have different numbers of significant figures than given in the info in the problem. I would go back and use the number of sig figs in the info given to you. In this case, your answer would be rounded to 3 sig figs instead of 2 as shown in the solution of the back of the book. Not entirely sure why this happens either, but definitely refer to the original number of significant figures in the info given for your final answer.

You should answer each part with the amount of sig figs that correspond to that part. For example, if in Part A, the problem gives values with 2 sig figs, then answer Part A in 2 sig figs.
