Final Exam

Postby Angela Cong 3C » Thu Dec 06, 2018 9:55 pm

For the final exam, would we need to know the chemical formula for ethylenediamine or do we just need to write en?

I would just remember both. What is the chemical formula for EN and EDTA?

For Gail's review session she recommended that we do know both just in case.

The chemical formula of EN is C2H8N2.
The chemical formula of EDTA is C10H16N2O8.

It is probably a good idea to memorize it, on Lyndon's churro practice questions there are questions with en and ox.

I think I was told to memorize them how they are on the Ligand Names in Coordination Compounds chart on Lavelle's website. Ethylenediamine has the formula: NH2CH2CH2NH2

You should remember both and that it is a polydentate so you would use bis or tris to indicate the number of en molecules.
