how can we determine which reactant is the limiting reagent/determine percent yield?

You determine limiting reactant by seeing which reactant will run out first in a reaction. Thus, you can figure this out by finding the mass of product each reactant produces. Whichever produces less of the product will therefore be the limiting reactant.

Percent yield= actual yield/theoretical yield * 100% The theoretical yield will be the mass of product which you solve for and the actual yield will likely be given to you.

To find the limiting reagent, you convert the grams of one reactant to moles and do the same to the other and whichever one is lower is your limiting reagent. Percent yield is found by actual yield/theoretical yield x100%.

Another method of determining the limiting reagent is to convert the mass of the reactants into moles using the molar mass. Choose one of the products and multiply the moles of reactants calculated by the mole ratio of [mole of that one product]/[mole of the respective reactant]. Whichever reactant produces the least moles of that one product is the limiting reagent.
