When do you use Cp,m and Cv,m?

### Re: Cp,m

Cp,m is the molar heat capacity (heat capacity divided by number of moles) of an ideal gas at constant pressure. Cv,m is the molar heat capacity of an ideal gas at constant volume.

### Re: Cp,m

You use these terms for an ideal gas. The Cp,m is used at constant pressure and the Cv,m is used at constant volume. The m indicates that it is the molar heat capacity so you would multiply it by the amount of moles in order to get the heat capacity.

### Re: Cp,m

Cp is for constant pressure and can be used in solving for q or delta S.
Cv is for constant volume in the same equations

### Re: Cp,m

You use Cp for conditions of constant pressure in isothermal reactions. You use Cv for conditions of constant volume in isothermal reactions.

### Re: Cp,m

Cp,m and Cv,m are used for isothermal reactions with ideal gases. Cp,m is used when an constant temperature is given and Cv,m is used when a constant volume is given.
