Despite Cl having a lower ionization energy than C, why is C still the central atom and not Cl? (Formula is CCl4) thank you.

I'm not sure, I've looked it up and can't find anything, but another good trick is that the least abundant atom is also usually in the middle.

Carbon has a lower ionization energy.
Carbon is 153.9 kJ mol‑1 while chlorine is 349.0 kJ mol‑1. Chlorine is also closer to the top right corner of the periodic table which means it has higher ionization energy
