Draw the complete Lewis structure for each of the following compounds:
c. glycine, H 2 C(NH 2 )COOH, the simplest of the amino acids, the building blocks of proteins.

How do you know how to write the Lewis structure for a complex atom like this?

I recommend taking it step by step or by portions because this will ensure that the correct atoms as well as the correct number of atoms will be bonded with each other. You can also take a look at the solutions manual for help with drawing the lewis structure. Hope this helps!

Check out the example in the textbook reading. I also struggled on this at first, but I was able to understand how to do it a bit more after I looked at the example. In these complex compounds there's often double central atoms and I would take the initial step in finding those first.
