Radicals

How do you determine which element in a radical gets the lone electron? I'm looking at 2C.5 part a which is asking you to draw ClO. How do I know if the last electron does on Cl or O?

I was talking to my TA about the same question and he said that you assign it to the more electronegative atom. He was not 100% positive though so I would double-check with Dr. Lavelle

the electrons will be drawn towards the more electronegative element, so in this case the lone electron should go on Cl
