First law of thermodynamics
Could someone explain what the first law of thermodynamics states conceptually? I get how to do the calculations but don't quite get what exactly the law is.

Re: First law of thermodynamics
It's saying that heat is a form of energy, therefore the principle of conservation of energy applies to it.
Re: First law of thermodynamics
How would you do the calculations for the first law of thermodynamics ?

Re: First law of thermodynamics
It's basically conservation of energy (the universe is a closed system, therefore energy transfers but does not get lost).
