Compounds having Ionic/Covalent Characteristics

What other properties are examined to determine whether a compound having an electronegativity between 1.5 and 2.0 is more ionic or more covalent? Professor Lavelle mentioned a compound's solubility in water can be indicative its chemical properties. Any other properties we can look at to tell whether a compound is more ionic or covalent?

Here are a couple other properties:

Melting/Boiling Point: Since ionic compounds have greater forces of attraction (anions to cations), they have higher boiling and melting points than covalent compounds, where less attraction exists between the molecules.
Conductivity: Ionic compounds are generally good conductors when in liquid or aqueous state (not in solid), whereas covalent molecular compounds aren't.
Structure: Ionic compounds are harder and break before they bend. Covalent structures are more flexible.
